Optional writing sprint

10:00ready

Choose 1–10000 words or leave blank. This is a target for your own editor, not an automatic word count.

Changing prompts keeps the timer. Reset or a new duration starts it over. No editor or word count.

How to use

Decide what the magic cannot do before adding more powers. Use the generated conflict to test that limitation, and make one ordinary relationship bear a consequence. Choose ingredients and 1–20 ideas. Show opening adds a possible first line; Copy prompts includes the current scene and its direction. The independent sprint timer remains optional.

Try a 10-minute fantasy exercise

Choose one scene below. Spend two minutes deciding what the character wants, seven minutes writing a decisive action or exchange, then one minute checking how the genre constraint changes the outcome. The optional opening is a suggestion you can rewrite.

Frequently asked questions

How should I develop this kind of scene?

Decide what the magic cannot do before adding more powers. Use the generated conflict to test that limitation, and make one ordinary relationship bear a consequence.

Can I choose another genre here?

This page keeps Fantasy as its focus. You can choose compatible ingredients. Use the main Writing Prompt Generator to switch genres or return to Curated Prompts.

How many ideas can I generate?

Choose 1–20 fantasy ideas. Fully fixed ingredients may allow only one distinct result; the status explains a shorter batch. These are starting points, not guarantees of unique finished stories.

What happens when I change prompts during a sprint?

The independent timer keeps its remaining time. Start begins the selected 5, 10 or 15 minutes; Pause and Resume preserve time. Reset or changing the duration deliberately resets it. Reloading the page clears both prompts and timer.

Does the timer count my words?

No. There is no built-in editor or automatic word count. An optional personal goal records only the target you enter for this visit. Write and check your progress in your own notebook or editor. The timer measures elapsed time with a deadline, including time spent in another tab.

What is the opening line?

Build a Story Idea can show an optional opening tied to the selected conflict, plus a direction for developing that conflict. It is a starting point to adapt, not a finished scene or a guarantee of a unique line. Copy includes an opening only when you choose to show it.

Do you store my writing or send prompts to a server?

No. These modes run locally without an AI API, account or saved writing. The generated prompts and timer are kept in memory for this visit. Clipboard access happens only when you press Copy.
