How to use

Choose a writing type and 1–20 prompts, then select Generate prompts. Pick one task and start writing; the prompt gives direction without writing the story for you. Copy prompts copies the current batch, one task per line. Changing the type generates fresh results. Generate again to replace the batch.

Try a 10-minute writing exercise

Use this Fiction prompt: “Write a scene in which a baker finds a thank-you note for a favor they do not remember doing. Show the moment they decide whether to answer it.” Spend two minutes choosing the baker, the favor and what they risk by replying; write the scene for seven minutes; use the last minute to underline the decision that moves the story forward.

An opening might be: “The note sat beneath the flour jar. Mara read it twice, then checked whether the front door was still locked.” Continue with a specific action or exchange. You can use your own timer; this tool has no built-in writing editor or countdown.

Choose the kind of task you need

Fiction focuses on everyday characters and decisions; Fantasy adds an imagined rule with consequences; Mystery asks for clues, competing explanations or a reveal; Reflection explores an observation through a personal or invented narrator. Treat constraints as starting points. You can change names, settings or details, and you never need to share personal experiences.

Are prompts composed by AI when I press Generate?

No. This tool samples 60 original, individually written tasks from an editorial collection. It does not assemble unrelated words, call an AI API, write a finished story or evaluate your writing.

Can prompts repeat?

No prompt repeats in the same batch. Later batches can reuse prompts. Each type has 15 tasks; asking for more returns the available 15 with an explanation. Choose All types for up to 20 at once.

How is this different from a random topic?

A topic starts an open discussion or short speech. A writing prompt asks you to produce a scene, letter or reflective piece with specific details or constraints. Use Random Topic Generator if your goal is conversation.
